Siobhan Magnus – ‘Think’ by Aretha Franklin

Randy: Is amazed that she chose such a legendary singer and managed to nail it. Praises for her “slaying it” and shouts that he loves it.

Ellen Agrees, joking: “Most people would say don’t take on such a big song, but they also said don’t mix sleeves with a blanket and look at the Snuggie – it’s huge!”

Kara: Can’t get over how great her last note was, saying she just doesn’t understand how she can reach it.

Simon: Calls her “such a strange person”, insisting that it’s a compliment. Thinks parts of the song were terrible, but the final note was “incredible”. Adds: “You are interesting, but very, very talented.”

Paige Miles – ‘Walk Away’ by Kelly Clarkson

Randy: Asks if she wants to be a rocker girl. Says he liked it, but he wasn’t over the top about it because there were so many words, he couldn’t really hear her voice.

Ellen: Disagrees and calls it “fantastic”. Says she really loves the song – which was written by Kara – and she looked like she was having fun.

Kara: Can see her having a hit with the song, but notes that if she knew the guy the track was written about, she wouldn’t be smiling.

Simon: Agrees with Randy and says that she has failed to choose the right song two weeks in a row, suggesting she is “getting lost” in them. Calls it a “forgettable” performance.

American Idol 2010 -Katelyn Epperly – The Scientist by Coldplay

Randy: Says he liked it and that it was nice to hear her play the piano, but adds: “I wasn’t over the top about it, but I liked it.”

Ellen Calls it “way too slow”, joking: “If I’m at home babysitting, you’re helping me out, the baby’s asleep. That’s great, but people can’t vote if they’re asleep.”

Kara: Understands what Randy and Ellen are saying, but says she “kind of loves her”. Thinks her biggest problem is being “all over the place” and she needs to figure out who she is.

Simon: Describes it as a “smart choice of song” because it made her contemporary, but worries that she becomes “quite corny” when she performs. But adds that it was better than last week and she might have put herself back in the race.

AMERICAN IDOL 2010 – Lilly Scott – A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke

I like Lilly she may be a little different from the other and that may see her through to the final.

Randy: Loves the fact that she is unique, and calls it one of the toughest ever songs to sing, but she nailed it: “My favourite performance of the night.”

Ellen: “You hear people say they have it,” she says. “I don’t know what ‘it’ is, but you have it… By far the best performance of the night.”

Kara: Says she was “riveted” and couldn’t wait to see what she would do next. Calls her a “mismatch” for the show, but predicts that she is going to change the game.

Simon: Thinks it was good, but wasn’t as crazy about it as the others. Adds that she oversang parts and she wasn’t as good as Crystal.

American Idol 2010 – Michelle Delamor – With Arms Wide Open by Creed

I love Michelle sing the first time she was on the show but got a feeling she is going to get voted out!

Randy: Thinks her outfit is hot, but she didn’t do enough with the song. Calls it a great opportunity to do something different but it fell flat.

Ellen: Disagrees and thinks she did do something different and change it up. Adds there were a couple of pitch problems but she has a great voice, and look: “It almost worked, but not quite.”

Kara: Calls it her favourite performance of hers ever, because she took a risk and had a great attitude. “You believed in it and I bought you,” she adds.

Simon: Agrees with Kara. Says the first half was stronger than the second, but realizes they gave a lot of contradictory advice, and appreciates that she tried to make the song her own.

American Idol 2010 – Didi Benami – Lean On Me by Bill Withers

I love Didi I think she cannot do anything wrong she just seems to have it all going on . I think she will be in the final this year maybe the darkhorse to win it.

Randy: Doesn’t think she should have chosen a soul song because it showed more of her imperfections, rather than what she can do.

Ellen: Loves her voice and thinks she has a great presence. Applauds her for trying to do something with the song, but agrees it wasn’t the best choice.

Kara: Says it “really wasn’t good” and that she is missing consistency. Thinks she was trying to do a “karaoke bar” performance and lost the uniqueness in her voice.

Simon: Thinks it was “screeching” and “all over the place”, and that it was a bad choice of song. Repeats that it’s frustrating because she picked a generic song and it was a “wasted opportunity”.

American Idol 2010 – Katie Stevens – Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae

I love this song I don’t think her version was the best I have ever heard but i think she will be safe this week.

Randy: Says there were “some bright moments” that reminded him of her audition, but she has to believe that she can tackle bigger songs.

Ellen: Thinks she has a really great voice, but wants her to appear her age: “I don’t want to hear something I would hear in my dentist’s office… I want a young, hip song.”

Kara: Agrees and says she is “frustrated” because she has so much potential. Believes she can have the impact, but she’s still waiting for the moment.

Simon: Appreciates that she listened to their critique last week, but says she is failing to let them know what kind of recording artist she wants to be. Predicts she will stay another week, but says it wasn’t a “winning performance”.

American Idol 2010 – Lacey Brown – Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer

I think this girl is going home this week. She is a very weak singer compared to others that left the show so far.

Randy: Calls it a good song choice but says she didn’t bring anything new to it, and he almost felt like he was watching karaoke.

Ellen: Agrees that she didn’t change it up, but brands it “adorable” and thinks she sounded great and chose the right song.

Kara: Likes that the song brought out her tone, but warns her that she has to “step it up still”.

Simon: Describes it as “marginally better than last week” but worries that she is just taking part in a competition, rather than showcasing herself as an artist. Adds that there was a “massive difference” between her and Crystal.

American Idol 2010 – Haeley Vaughn – The Climb

I think the climb has been done to death by the  singing competitions at the moment, XFACTOR UK killed this song for me as it was the winners song.

Randy: Says it didn’t work for him, calling it “tough” and “excruciating” because she can sing, but it was “so pitchy and so not right”, adding that she had no connection to the song.

Ellen: Tells her to never stop smiling and calls her adorable, but agrees and says that it was like she memorized the song but didn’t really feel it.

Kara: Thinks that lots of people at home are rooting for her and she is a good performer, but she needs a year of practice to really excel.

Simon: Calls it a “complete and utter mess”, adding: “There’s a certain irony for you singing a song about climbing when you actually fell off.”

American Idol 2010 -Crystal Bowersox – Long As I Can See the Light by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Crystal Bowersox performed tonight after being ill to Long As I Can See The Light. Crystal to WIN!

Randy: Loves that she isn’t trying to be anybody else, saying: “Truth is reality… you are the truth and you do what you do.”

Ellen: Calls it “pure, raw, natural talent” and says she is so happy she is here, urging her to stay healthy because she is amazing.

Kara: Thinks she has “completely recovered” from last week because she showed her Americana rock roots and made it look effortless.

Simon: Appreciates how sick she has been over the past 24 hours, and says that it’s great she didn’t play the sympathy card and chose a great song. Adds he “completely misunderestimated” her last week: “This was like the moment we realized with Kelly Clarkson that we’ve got a really serious artist here.”
