Why We Loved to Hate Him: When crafting our list of the Worst ‘American Idol’ finalists ever, we knew right away that only one contestant could top it. That person, of course, was Sanjaya Malakar, the hair-raising trainwreck from season 6 who made us yell, cringe and, in the case of one specific girl, cry.
Indeed, Sanjaya was the ultimate ‘Idol’ trainwreck. From missing notes to flubbing lyrics, he did it all, launching a kind of hysteria that had not been seen on ‘American Idol’ since the days of William Hung.
